Sonkei traveled down to the 2016 Rossendale Inter Club Championships on Sunday 16th October, 14 of us traveled down in a mini bus, 6 competitors and 8 supporters, Abigail Hulse took part in her first competition and won a 4th place plaque for Gohon Kumite, Jack Escott-Latif continued his good form at competitions by wining a 4th place plaque for Ippon Kumite, Callum Bramwell, Katie Lough & Reece Bensley formed a team for Kata and won 3rd place medals after only a few practices, Chris Hulse made his return to a competition after a 20 year break! All competitors performed fantastically well and their etiquette was perfect as always.

Sonkei traveled down to the 2017 Northwest Open Championships on Saturday 4th March, Mark Burrows took part in his first competition away from home and done very well in his events, Chris & Abigail Hulse continued their competition run with good shows, Reece Bensley won a 3rd place trophy in Gohon Kumite (5" & over), it was a good trip on the road for Sonkei again.
